Stimulus Bill affects Employer COBRA Administration

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, signed into law on February 17, 2009 affects how employers administer COBRA coverage for workers. The legislation requires employers to assist workers involuntarily laid off with subsidizing COBRA cost for a period of 9 months. “This is landmark legislations and it extends temporary support to those laid off – yet still need affordable healthcare coverage” noted Milton Hall, President & CEO of Human Capital Consultants. “To assist our clients, our staff has followed this legislation and the trailing clarifications very closely so that our clients can properly and efficiently communicate the benefits of this legislation” – states Human Capital’s President.
